Artist Statement

Lynn Mahon resides in California's Wine Country, an area which has influenced his development as a ceramic artist. Throughout his life, Lynn has explored his environment, thereby developing his creativity and avenues of expression.

Since attending Sierra Nevada College for his BFA, Lynn has studied with several master ceramists, including Tom Collins, Rodney Mott, Paul Soldner, and Peter Voulkos.

Lynn works in mediums that allow him to explore organic forms and shapes, reflecting the environment in which they were created and where they will come to rest.

Mahon explains, "My art is intended to transform the daily environment of the viewer, to a contemplative and still state, if only momentarily. Inspiration comes from both natural and supernatural worlds. From ancient cultures to modern techniques, my work is a connection to that which has come before me and that which will follow."
